Rights’ Counselling
Asylum seekers, and their Israeli born children, live in a legal and social limbo: The long-standing refusal of the Israeli government to recognize asylum seekers as refugees generates problems for them in all areas of their lives. They have few social and health rights, and access to these often requires a struggle with bureaucracy, hostile clerks and rapidly changing regulations, not to mention language and cultural barriers. NRC aims to fill the gap between asylum seeker needs and government services. We hold twice weekly Rights’ Counselling hours for asylum seekers covering issues [y1] such as health, welfare, employment and direct aid.
The Rights Counselling Workshop is run by social work students in their final year of studies at the Sapir Academic College. In addition to running the workshop, students undertake to mentor one individual “client” family throughout the course of the year.
If you would like to mentor or support an asylum seeker family we will be more than happy to help you make the connection and provide training. Call: Reut Leu at ++972(0) 545264049 or reutleu@gmail.com
If you are an asylum seeker or refugee who needs assistance, our staff can be reached on Sundays from 17:00 to 19:00. You can send a message to our email, or Facebook page
